The Purpose Springboard
A workshop series on defining + communicating your big idea.
You want to see your company stand for something bigger.
You sense that running a purpose-led business is both the smart and right thing to do — and you’ve found that there’s not much in your business training or experience that helps you practically deliver that promise.
This four-week course starts to fill that gap.
The business case for purpose is clear.
All companies — B2C or B2B, big or small, established or new — are operating in a marketplace that is low in trust and high in expectations. In this context, companies that deliver a bigger societal impact gain a return on that purpose: their workforces are 11x more likely to stay, customers are 4x more likely to trust and purchase from them, and they grow 4x faster than their competitors.
“It was relevant and nourishing to step away from the day-to-day to develop an actionable strategy with Perennial in 2022. Thanks to some of the brainstorming and work we did, Biota won a small pitch competition hosted by UBS and Venture for America. 2023 is going to be a big year.”

The sessions
You’ll join others in a fast-paced, online, cohort setting. Each week features a live session with the Perennial team, with exercises and tools for work outside of the sessions. We’ll cover:
Week 1 — Purpose as business model: The competitive advantage of standing for something bigger than what you sell + getting started with your purpose statement
Week 2 — Values as compass: Defining how you'll act -- then following through -- is essential to the return on purpose + embedding in your company
Week 3 — Theory of impact: Determining how you will deliver your impact, in your product/services and across your operations + clarifying your company's role in change that's bigger than you
Week 4 — Tell the story: Leveraging purpose in your brand with authenticity, honesty and consistency + crafting core language and cascading messages
What you get
An actionable scaffold for defining and communicating your North Star:
Fresh drafts of your purpose statement and values
Clarity on where your impact will actually come from: your product/service, your operations, or both
A clear direction for how and when you’ll talk about your big idea
Takeaway tools to finish the work with your stakeholders
Consistently, leaders tell us how valuable it is to simply carve out the time and space for this foundational work, with a facilitator and a process to support your thinking.
When you enroll additional members of your team — your co-leaders, staff, advisors and thought-partners — the value of that time and space multiplies, by speeding up the translation of this work to your day-to-day decision-making and operations.
However you join — alone or with colleagues — all sessions will be recorded and all materials will be available for your use after the course.
Based in research, built through action
We’ll interrogate your current thinking about your company’s purpose and how you’ll deliver it informed by the research and methodology of Inspired INC.: Become a company the world will get behind.
Here’s what BlackRock board member Mark Wilson said about our framework: "Inspired INC. serves as a handbook to deliver on the promise of purposeful business while acknowledging the pitfalls and practicalities of public markets."
“Perennial provided a great foundation, framing and inspiration to work through our company’s purpose and values. The structure, activities, and practical application of this workshop were fantastic. I left with not just some great thinking, but tangible, actionable output that I can’t wait to refine and implement. So much packed into 6 hours!”
A necessary jumping-off point
This session will set you up for what’s next: establishing team alignment and determining how you’ll walk your talk. The Springboard is that first step to the payoff of purpose.
